Garrucha

With much of the original charm intact that made it flourish in the first place, Garrucha comes as a beautiful and lively fishing town. In the most recent years, it has now assumed the role of popular tourist destination, on the premise of the slogan “Garrucha, Sun and Seafood.” Synonymous with the town really is its famed quality large red prawns, fished only from Garrucha’s waters. In turn, Garrucha has always taken advantage of its thriving fishing industry, its main source of income. To complement this, a large port for both commercial and leisure pursuits has been built.

As much as it is known for its sumptuous seafood, Garrucha is well renowned for its sparkling golden sandy beaches, which runs for several kilometers along the Costa Almeria. The beach just fronting the town center is the only beach in town labeled with the prestigious Blue flag. Further down Garrucha, there are also other alternative choices among a series of superb recently developed beaches, covering approximately 8 km.
